Where on Earth does it come from?
The peach tree, native of China, has influenced the culture and art of every place where it was progressively imported: from its country of origin, where it represented immortality, to Egypt, to Persia and to all the Mediterranean countries; since then it has spread to the temperate zones of Italy, in both the North and South: two of the Italian regions that hold the production record are Emilia Romagna and Sicily. It later arrived in the United States, which is currently the largest global producer of peaches.
